UPAT Job Corps Remembers One of its Own

The staff and leadership of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Job Corps are mourning the loss of one of their longtime coordinators, Nick Till. Brother Till passed away suddenly on Monday, January 30, 2006 of a heart attack.

Nick joined the IUPAT in 1971 after honorably serving in the United States Marine Corps for two years.

In 1995, he joined the staff of the IUPAT Job Corps as an instructor at the Grand Rapids Job Corps Training Center in Michigan. Nine years later, he was promoted to field coordinator for the program and quickly gained admiration from his peers. In 2005, at the age of 52, he accomplished a lifelong dream of earning a bachelor’s degree from the National Labor College in Washington, D.C.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Nick’s family,” said Steve Leber, national project coordinator for the IUPAT Job Corps. “His is a loss that will be felt for some time. He was a good man who was not only one of the best at his job, but was also a friend to all of his fellow workers. This program, and our hearts, won’t be the same without him.”
