IUPAT Leaders Convene at GPAC 2007

Each year, the International leadership and the business manager/secretary-treasurers from each district council in the United States and Canada meet for five days in what is called the General President’s Advisory Committee, or GPAC. They did so again in March 2007.

The daily meetings consisted primarily of the presentation of financial and operational reports for each district council. Membership trends, apprenticeship numbers and the amount of hours worked by members of the council in each trade were among the details included in each report. It was an in-depth briefing for each business manager/secretary-treasurer to take back and present to district council staff and members.

The week also featured some guest speakers, including Plasterers President Patrick Finley and Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers President John Flynn. "It’s one of the most important meetings of the year because it comes right on the heels of trustee meetings for the Pension Fund, LMCI and the Finishing Trades Institute," said IUPAT General President James Williams. "We basically set the agenda for the rest of the year and report on what we accomplished in the year before."

Check the news again soon to find out more about where the IUPAT is heading in 2007.
