International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Endorses Obama for President

Washington, DC – June 19, 2008 – The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades today endorsed Barack Obama for President of the United States. The union, which represents more than 140,000 skilled construction and design workers, cited Obama's leadership on labor issues, workers' rights and strengthening the economy for hardworking Americans.

"Barack Obama is a champion for working Americans, and his economic plan has the vision and strength to secure American prosperity for the future," said James Williams, President of IUPAT. "The IUPAT and our members are proud to stand with Senator Obama for real change."

"I'm honored to receive the IUPAT's endorsement. Their leaders and their members are committed to hardworking Americans, and I look forward to working with them to strengthen our economy and protect workers' rights and their right to organize," said Senator Obama.
