Speaker John A. Perez appoints Chris Christophersen to California Architects Board

(Sacramento CA, March 13th) California Assembly Speaker John A. Perez (D-Los Angeles) announced the appointment of Chris Christophersen of Tracy, Business Manager for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 16, to the California Architects Board, which establishes regulations for professional architects in the state.

“Mr. Christophersen has proven himself as an effective leader who makes thoughtful and tough decisions, and I am pleased to have found such a strong candidate for the Board of Architects,” said Speaker John A. Perez. “I trust that he will be a wonderful addition to the Board, and will help continue its service to the State and the architecture profession.”

Christophersen has been a member of the IUPAT for over 30 years and was hired full time in 2002 as an organizer. After serving numerous positions for District Council 16 in Livermore, such as Business Representative, Director of Communications/Political Action and Director of Service, he was elected Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer in December 2012.

The California Architects Board is a part of the California Department of Consumer Affairs and was created in 1901 by the state legislature to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public by regulating and setting standards for the practice of architecture.

Christophersen’s 4-year term on the Board of Architects began on February 26, 2013.
