IUPAT General President Rigmaiden Presents $10,000 PATCH Check to UCP

International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) General President Ken Rigmaiden recently presented a $10,000 check to United Cerebral Palsy – My Child Without Limits.  The donation was the result of an extremely successful campaign last fall in which the PATCH Foundation pledged a $1 donation (up to $10,000) for each new LIKE on the PATCH Facebook page – www.Facebook.com/PATCHfoundation.

In a matter of weeks, the page went from having nearly 600 fans, to over 16,000.  It was a great success by any measure for both PATCH and UCP.  “Thanks to this campaign, PATCH now has the potential to reach over three million people in its newly expanded network of followers,” said Gavin McDonald, IUPAT communications director.  “This gives us a remarkable platform to effectively promote the causes we work for on behalf of children in need throughout the country, as well as publicize many of the organizations we partner with that are doing their own work for children who require a helping hand for a better life.”

The PATCH Foundation was founded in 2001 by the IUPAT with the mission to support youth organizations throughout North America and beyond.  Since then, the Foundation has given over $1 million to organizations across the United States and Canada to support everything from medical care to athletics.

“Our members not only aspire to be good workers and good employees, but great community partners as well,” said Rigmaiden.

“We appreciate the partnership, said Stephen Bennett, United Cerebral Palsy president and CEO.  “It means the world to us, and to the kids that we’re working with.  We hope this inspires other groups to do the same kind of thing for organizations like ours.”
