The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Last year, 70,743,973 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected, making this the ninth consecutive year that collections topped the 70-million-pound mark, bringing the grand total to nearly 1.2 billion pounds collected since the national drive began in 1993.
This years drive is taking place on Saturday, May 11. All you and your neighbors need to do is place a box or can of non-perishable food next to their mailbox before the letter carrier delivers mail that day, and the carrier will do the rest.
With America still reeling from devastating unemployment, this year’s event comes at a most critical time. Food banks are seeing an unprecedented crisis as requests continue rising beyond what many can support.
Be sure to put your non-perishable items out for letter carriers to collect on Saturday, May 11!
