IUPAT NJ: Labor, Execs Push for More Jobs During American Dream Project Hearing

Most of the audience — and more than half the speakers — at Wednesday morning’s environmental impact statement hearing on American Dream Meadowlands were labor union members and executives who stressed the need for more jobs in the region.

Ron Nosiay, president of the Union Local 1976, representing painters, tapers and glaziers, referred to the 40 to 50 percent unemployment rate in his membership as “carnage,” adding that turning down a bid by Triple Five LLC to take over and open the former Xanadu project would turn the site into “a New Jersey nightmare.”
