IUPAT St. Louis: St. Louis alderman seeks new commission, says contractors aren’t following laws

Vaccaro, alderman in the southwest’s 23rd Ward, says he often fields complaints that some city contractors are not following laws requiring minority participation, prevailing wages, insurance and tax payments, or federal safety standards, among other things.

Rich Lucks, the local painter’s union business rep, said he understands that sentiment, but this is no small problem.

“I constantly find companies skirting the city’s earnings taxes,” Lucks said, among other violations he referenced.
