Statement by IUPAT Executive General Vice President Ken Rigmaiden
on President Barack Obama’s Re-Election
This election proved that it takes far more than dollars for a victorious campaign; it takes dedicated men and women to knock on doors, visit job sites, work phone banks and get voters to the polls to exercise their sacred right to vote for their candidate. It requires a spirit of political activism fueled by the desire to build a better America for all, not a fortunate few. The members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades are proud to have been a part of this movement to successfully re-elect President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to another term.
Now that America has spoken, the IUPAT stands ready to continue its work with President Obama to provide working families with the fair pay, education, retirement benefits and health care they work so hard for every day. We believe that the Obama Administration is on track to get America working again, and we’ll continue to do our part to provide the training for American workers to meet the demands of those new jobs.
We also realize that there are leaders in both parties that share our goals for working families and, although we may disagree with some on how to reach those goals, we will continue to work with every leader on Capitol Hill who fights the fight for what we know in our hearts is the best course for this great country.
