In June, District Council 11 hosted its 12th Annual STAR Safety Training Banquet at Ocean Beach Park in New London, Connecticut. Over 800 guests attended the event to celebrate the safety achievements of DC 11’s members. Many rewards were distributed to DC 11’s members at the banquet, including Apple iPads, laptop bundles, Samsung Galaxy tablets, mountain bikes, golf sets, and much more. The biggest prize of the evening was a brand new Ford Edge.
The Safety Training Awards Recognition (STAR) program is the Labor Management Cooperation Initiative’s (LMCI) incentive-based rewards program that serves to improve safety awareness on the job site. The program requires workers to complete safety courses and maintain a minimum number of safe work hours during the qualifying work period. When members meet these requirements, they become eligible for recognition and rewards.
