District Council 14 – Women Build Nations Conference

Members of District Council 14 will participate in the annual Women Build Nations Conference. The event will take place October 13 – 15 at Chicago’s Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel and McCormick Place, the largest convention center in North America, and a venue that many women have contributed to building over the years. DC 14 had the honor of hosting last year’s conference and is excited to welcome back fellow IUPAT members this year.

Over 1,600 union tradeswomen and allies from all crafts participated in the conference last year, and that number is expected to rise in 2017. This year, the Women Build Nations Conference will feature over 40 educational workshops providing resources for entering and advancing in trade careers, building women’s retention in the industry, encouraging union activism and leadership, and advocating for policies and practices that support women’s careers. Sponsors for the conference include the North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) and the Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT).

District Council 14 is encouraging our members to attend this year’s Women Build Nations Conference, which is open to all union members and allies.
