On July 18, Conner Mortensen, son of District Council 15/Local Union 2001 (Las Vegas) glazier Arthur Mortensen, was given the A.L. “Mike” Monroe/Ralph D. Williams III Sports Scholarship. Western Region General Vice President Mark Van Zevern presented the $5,000 scholarship to Conner during the monthly meeting of Local Union 2001.

Conner is quite an accomplished football player. During his high school years, he was the Division’s Most Valuable Player, 1A/2A/3A Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, All State Running Back, All State Line Backer, and All Conference Running Back. In his senior year alone, Conner rushed for 1,480 yards and had 34 touch downs. He is now a linebacker for Weber State University, which is in the Big Sky Conference. Conner will apply the scholarship towards his college tuition, books, and housing. His chosen field of study is medicine.
The IUPAT congratulates Conner and wishes him the best of luck in his pursuit of a higher education. Learn more about IUPAT and other scholarship opportunities for union families at www.IUPAT.org.
