On October 13, 2016, DC 15 Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer John Smirk attended a special session of the Southern Nevada Building Trades. The session included the passage of an assembly bill that will secure more work for DC 15 members in the near future. Senate Bill 1 contained language that grants funding for the construction of a stadium in southern Nevada and the expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Funding for both projects will come from a just less than 1 percent increase in lodging taxes in Clark County, Nevada.
