On October 31, 2017, District Council 3 Organizer Shawn Delgado had the honor of having a brief discussion with Juan Manuel Santos, president of Colombia. The discussion took place prior to an award presentation for President Santos at the University of Kansas. Brother Delgado spoke to President Santos about his story of dignity through the IUPAT, briefly touching on topics such as the Community Organizing for Real Economics (CORE) program and our campaigns for workers’ rights.
Shawn Delgado immigrated to the United States from Columbia over 25 years ago to escape violence and destitution. Since then, he has worked diligently to build a better life for himself and his family. Brother Delgado has been an IUPAT member for 19 years and an organizer for the last 18 months.
