In May 2017, representatives from District Council 50’s four finishing trades (floor covering, glazing, painting and taping) attended the Youth Challenge Academy Semi-Annual Career Explorations Fair at its Oahu Campus located in Kapolei.
Each of the 103 cadets in attendance was required to stop by every booth and ask the vendors about the responsibilities associated with the positions available. Such interactions help the cadets develop their communications skills.
DC 50 members enjoy taking part in this event, as it provides eager youths the opportunity to have a better future by being part of a unionized organization with great benefits and wages. DC 50 plans to participate in future events, and will continue to provide employment opportunities for the future workforce of Hawaii.
