On September 9, 2017, District Council 82 hosted its annual STAR Banquet at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota. Over 700 members attended the banquet this year, nearly filling the venue to capacity.
Throughout the evening, DC 82 celebrated the membership’s achievements in safety. Awards handed out included Samsung Galaxy Tablets, Sonos speakers, Bose soundsystems, DeWalt power tools and much more. The big prizes of the evening were the 2017 Ford F-150, a 2017 Ford Taurus, and a 2017 Alumacraft boat with motor and trailer.

The Safety Training Awards Recognition (STAR) program is the Labor Management Cooperation Initiative’s (LMCI) incentive-based rewards program that serves to improve safe work practices on the job site. The program requires workers to complete safety courses and maintain a minimum number of safe work hours during the qualifying work period. When members meet these requirements, they become eligible for recognition and rewards.
