On February 18-19, 2015 members of the IUPAT’s Government Affairs staff met for a debrief of the 2014 election cycle. In addition to discussing the results of the election, they discussed the importance of mobilizing the membership during the election cycle. The staff is in unanimous agreement that participation needs to increase among the membership in order to be effective during election cycles. The staff also reviewed current methods of community outreach and discussed their overall effectiveness in each region. In addition, the staff wants to improve strategies for electing worker-friendly candidates.
