The spirit of the April event on which thousands of IUPAT volunteers lent their skills, time and hearts to local community organizations and the betterment of local landmarks, neighborhoods and sports fields was intended to move us all to do more in the months following, as well.
Be certain to remain involved with your district council and local union meetings to find out how you can join fellow members of your union in making a difference in your community.
Need some ideas and inspiration? Here’s what IUPAT District Council 53 in West Virginia did on the IUPAT Community Day of Action.
In Charleston, local IUPAT members came to the aid of a local community partner, the West Virginia Council of Churches, by repairing and painting its headquarters. This organization is active in the areas of social justice, health and economic issues and legislative issues. In fact, the West Virginia Council of Churches was a strong and dedicated ally in local labor’s fight in the state prevailing wage and Right to Work fight.

Just one example of how we can support our community partners in our own unique way.
