This week at the International Finishing Trades Institute on the IUPAT Headquarters Campus in Hanover, Maryland, organizers and representatives underwent comprehensive organizing training coordinated by the AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades Department (BCTD).
Attendees learned about building a national organizing campaign from the ground up utilizing the latest tools in research, media outreach and social media utilization. On Friday, the course ended with attendees presenting a mock full-scale national organizing campaign to instructors for evaluation.
Ongoing education and training is not only important to those of us who work on job sites, it’s crucial to building our union as well.
