IUPAT General President Statement on Trump’s Move to Illegally End Collective Bargaining for 50,000 TSA Workers
Press Releases
Hanover, MD — International Union of Painters and Allied Trades General President Jimmy Williams Jr. released the following statement in response to President Trump’s move to illegally end the right to collective bargain for 50,000 TSA workers.
“Not content with illegally firing federal workers, today the Trump administration announced that it intends to eliminate collective bargaining completely for approximately 50,000 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers across the country.
No boss, including the President of the United States, can end a contract with working people simply because they feel like it. It’s unconscionable that this administration would try and do so, and it surely will not stop here.
The IUPAT stands in solidarity with TSA workers and the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) in condemning this unjust and unlawful action. This decision reflects a broader pattern of hostility toward working people and their unions from this administration, and it must be met with unwavering resistance and no compromise from the labor movement and all who believe in fairness and justice.”
