IUPAT Statement on the Trump Administration’s Stop-Work Order for Revolution Wind

Press Releases

The Trump administration’s abrupt stop-work order on the Revolution Wind project is a direct attack on working people, unions, clean energy, and our communities. This baseless shutdown has already cost hundreds of union workers their jobs, including IUPAT members, and hurt hard-working people across Rhode Island and Connecticut.

This isn’t just about one project; this is part of a pattern. Within the private sector, hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost. The faulty policies of this Administration have decimated tens of thousands of jobs across the construction industry since taking office. Today, skilled trades workers who went to work on Friday are now out of a job, not because the work isn’t there, but because this government is pulling the plug on a successful project for ideological reasons.

If this administration is willing to stop a nearly-finished, fully-approved infrastructure project with no warning, every project in every sector is now at risk. No contractor, investor, or developer can operate with confidence in an environment this unstable, which will further harm working families and continue to slow our economic growth.

Working people of this country were promised lower costs, energy independence, and jobs. Instead, inflation goes up while jobs are shut down. Our union will not stay silent while this administration plays with our livelihoods. This isn’t just bad policy, this is a direct attack on working people, and we are fighting back.
