IUPAT Endorses Sherrod Brown for United States Senate
Press Releases
International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Endorses Sherrod Brown for United States Senate. The endorsement has been made on behalf of the International, IUPAT District Council 6 and IUPAT District Council 53.
HANOVER, MD and STRONGSVILLE, OH — The IUPAT today proudly announced the endorsement of Sherrod Brown for Senate in 2026. During his time in the U.S. Senate, Brown was a leading voice for a pro worker economy through infrastructure investment, fair trade agreements and the right of workers to join and form unions.
IUPAT General President Jimmy Williams, Jr.:
“Sherrod Brown has been one of the most consistent champions of labor we’ve ever had in the US Senate. As a Senator, he was never afraid of standing up for the working people of Ohio and the country. We need more politicians with a backbone like his. The stakes are too high for working people to be divided and this choice is as clear as day: you either stand with working people, or against them. And I know Sherrod stands on our side.”
IUPAT District Council 6 Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer Jim Sherwood:
“The members of District Council 6 know who their friends are. And we don’t turn our backs on them. Every election is about a choice and today we are proud to again choose to stand with Sherrod Brown. Above all else, Sherrod is a leader who shares our belief that every worker deserves dignity, security, and opportunity.”
IUPAT District Council 53 Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer Brian Stanley:
“Sherrod Brown fights for working people and we need that more than ever. It always stood out to me that, as a Senator, he was not afraid to challenge his colleagues and insist that if they could pass laws to protect businesses, they could do the same for working people.”
IUPAT members, leaders, and staff will be in Ohio over the coming year to engage with voters about our endorsement and to share Senator Brown’s record on the issues working people care about.
