Glazier and Glassworker
Glaziers and glassworkers install, cut, and fit glass for windows, doors, curtain walls, and facades in commercial and residential buildings.

Glaziers and Glassworkers
Glaziers and glassworkers, also called architectural glass and metal technicians, install glass from sleek office towers to medical facilities and universities. Glass is a key element in today’s architecture, and at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, our Glazing Apprenticeship Program helps you become a skilled glazier, where you’ll be ready for complex projects in the industry.
As a glazier, you will learn to choose, handle, cut, install, and replace different types of glass and metal. With IUPAT’s training, you will gain practical, hands-on experience.
You will work with glass in both commercial and residential settings. You’ll learn how to install storefronts, curtain walls, atriums, skylights, partitions, security glazing, and more. On the residential side, you will learn how to install energy-efficient windows, glass showers, mirrors, glass table tops, and custom display cases.
The work of a glazier requires precision, safety, and a strong understanding of engineering and design principles. Whether you are putting up large glass walls that change the skyline or making custom interior features, your work will have a lasting effect.

TestimonialsTestimonials

I got into IUPAT and it’s the best choice I’ve made in my life. I go to bed feeling good about myself, knowing that I’ve got a career now and that our union helped build the man I am today.

I went from having nothing, literally nothing, to being able, through our union’s apprenticeship program, to make a life for myself and then show others that there’s a way out and you don’t have to settle.
