IUPAT General President Jimmy Williams, Jr.’s Statement on U.S.-Canadian Trade Talks
Press Releases
Hanover, MD — International Union of Painters and Allied Trades General President Jimmy Williams, Jr. released the following statement in response to the escalating trade talks between the U.S. and Canada.
“The IUPAT is proud to represent workers in the U.S. and Canada. Our members do important work to develop new buildings, maintain vital infrastructure, and keep both of our countries’ economies going. A trade war serves no one’s interests but the wealthy few and the political class. Our hardworking members across the U.S. and Canada can’t afford 50% tariffs on either side of the border – the IUPAT is united in solidarity against these dangerous and volatile actions and we stand with working people everywhere when we say enough is enough.”
President Williams is not afraid to ask tough questions or to say what he truly believes, no matter who is in the White House.
