Simon Hazelwood

General Vice President (Canada)

Following in his father’s footsteps, Simon Hazelwood started his apprenticeship as a drywall finisher in 1990 and later obtained his Certificate of Qualification as a Drywall Finisher. He worked as a journeyperson for 10 years before joining IUPAT District Council 46/Local Union 1590 (Ontario) in 2003 as a Business Representative/Organizer. 

In March 2017, he was hired by the International Finishing Trades Institute as an Apprenticeship Training Representative for Canada.  This role provided him the opportunity to focus on his passion for people development through work with the training centres of each Canadian District Council, contractor relations, and initiatives to drive overall industry growth. 

In September 2022, Hazelwood moved to the IUPAT Servicing Department as the General Representative for Canada. 

In January 2024, he was appointed as General Vice President of Canada.

When not working, Hazelwood is dedicated to spending time with family and friends and enjoying a shared passion for travel with his wife, Amy, and their two daughters.
