The IUPAT Black CORE Committee is committed to recruiting and retaining Black tradesmen and tradeswomen in the finishing trades.
As the Chair of the Black CORE Committee, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a proud union member and solidify my future by actually having something to work towards. I had been an Industrial painter for nine years before I realized there was a union for this work, and I could support my family with one job that came with benefits, safety incentives, and a plan for my retirement.
Joining the IUPAT has helped me secure not just a job but a career for longevity. It has made me understand how powerful a voice is and how much is needed in order to change what’s going on around us. IUPAT is a family for all of our communities.
