“President Biden has taken full advantage of his first 100 days in office by decisively moving to address the problems facing the American people. His first 100 days in office have been a resounding success – hundreds of millions of vaccines distributed, an appointment of the first union member to head the Department of Labor in over 50 years, passage of the landmark American Rescue Plan, and the proposals of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, American Jobs Plan, and the American Families Plan. His administration has been moving swiftly to fulfill the promises of his campaign. During President Biden’s address to Congress last night, he asked for Congress to send the PRO Act to his desk so he can sign it and our union intends to do everything in our power to make that happen.
The recent announcement of the American Families Plan is a comprehensive investment in the structures that support and sustain our families. IUPAT has pledged to organize thousands of workers – many of them women – into good paying construction careers and are proud that this plan seeks to expand programs that make care work more equitable and more inclusive.
The IUPAT is emboldened by a pro-worker administration that is delivering for the American people. We look forward to making sure that Congress follows up on all of these priorities.”
