IUPAT General President Jimmy Williams Jr. Responds to Nomination of Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Labor Secretary

Press Releases

“Our union is cautiously optimistic about the nomination of Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer for United States Labor Secretary. Rep. Chavez-DeRemer was one of only three Republicans to support the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, one of our union’s biggest priorities. We are hopeful she maintains that support as Labor Secretary.

The Secretary of Labor is tasked with enforcing laws related to occupational safety, overtime pay, unemployment benefits, and workplace conditions — all issues that affect the hard-working members of our union.

We look forward to working closely with Rep. Chavez-DeRemer on the issues that matter to our members and to the entirety of the working class — and to passing much needed labor law reform, like the PRO Act. Regardless of who is in the White House, we will always advocate for our members in their workplaces and beyond.”
